THE MURKY AMBIVALENCE OF VOTF

If we don't trust priests like Walter Cuenin, we are in grave difficulty."

From VOTF's  speakers bureau:  Rev. Robert Bullock:

"Walter Cuenin is an admirable pastor, . . . he's theologically sound. .

. .

If we don't trust priests like Walter Cuenin, we are in grave difficulty."

(BOSTON GLOBE, Dec. 5, 2002)

"(Rev. Walter Cuenin) . . . urged the Legislature to reject a ban on

same-sex marriages,

despite the support for the ban by the Catholic Bishops of the state."

". . .a vibrant Newton parish headed by an outspoken pastor who has

questioned

church teachings on gays and women and has sometimes chafed at Law's

leadership."

(BOSTON GLOBE, Dec. 5, 2002)

VOTF charter member:  Margaret Roylance:

"(Rev. Cuenin's parish) is all the things that a faith community ought

to be."

(BOSTON GLOBE, Dec. 5, 2002)

Early in his ministry in Boston, the Archbishop, Cardinal Law,

wrote a lengthy pastoral letter, outlining the importance of the Family.

The family is based upon the institution of marriage, willed and

established by God the Creator.  It is not only a sacrament in the

Catholic Church; it is the fundamental unit of society and civilization.

Upon the health of the family depends the health of the society as a

whole. You can not have a strong society, if the family is sick, divided

and  broken.  The Cardinal vowed that he would build his ministry around

this sacred  unit - supporting, promoting and encouraging what

strengthen the family; fighting against whatever weakened the family or

diminished the central place it must have in public policy.

There are many people in Massachusetts and indeed some within the

Church itself, that have a different plan, a different agenda than that

of protecting the traditional family!

" We take no position on any sex or gender issues and have no interest

in doing so."  (Mr. Jim Post, President of VOTF)

In truth, Mr. Post states that, "We accept the teaching authority of the

Catholic Church", but this declaration is meaningless, and in fact

directly contradicted, as long as VOTF continues to send into parishes

organizers and speakers from its bureau, such as James Carroll and

others who openly and adamantly espouse positions opposed to the

Catholic Faith.
